Prof. Dr. Rodrigo Martins“The 21st International Conference on Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Semiconductors” to be held in Lisbon, Portugal

Rodrigo Martins, Chairman of the Conference, rm@uninova.pt

The 21st International Conference on Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Semiconductors (ICANS 21) follows previous meetings held in Cambridge, Kobe, Budapest, Snowbird, Nice and Campos do Jordão (Brazil) during the past 40 years. The scope of ICANS 21 will include all aspects of research on amorphous and nanocrystalline semiconductors.

ICANS21 International Conference on Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Semiconductors will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from 4 – 9 of September 2004, in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The conference intends to bring together various views and opinions coming from people all over the world who develop relevant activity in area of the Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Semiconductors, trying to create, beside the up-to-dated overview of the field, a new perspective in respect to the implications of Amorphous and Nanocrystalline Semiconductors on society and the reflections of the social aspects into the future of the sector. Here emphasis will be also put concerning the honey moon between organic and inorganic semiconductors, aiming to bring to the discussion a new wide and open area concerning flexible and invisible electronics to the scientific community. Along to this, the specific area of chalcogenides and their impact to the new era of memory devices will be also addressed in this conference.

It is planned to have an “open scientific event” character, based- on a combination of invited presentations, participants’ contributions and debates on the different sub- themes. In addition, open discussions are also planned on the conference topics, aiming at summarizing the main conference inputs and novelties, as well as at opening international cooperation opportunities between the attendees.

Contributions are solicited from scientists, engineers and students engaged in research and development in the universities, research centres and industry.

The official language of the conference will be English.

Welcome to ICANS 21!
